Bird Key Yacht Club (BKYC) is considered one of the outstanding yacht Clubs on Florida's West Coast, and its story is closely linked with the history of Sarasota.
The Club conducts many varied activities for the benefit of its members. Its physical plant contains superb dining and refreshment facilities, as well as a pool, lighted tennis courts, yacht basin, and modern docks for transient vessels.
About nine years ago, under the watchful eye of longtime Catalina 22 sailor Beattie Purcell, a small core group of enthusiastic C22 owners met for the purpose of re-activating Fleet 77’s charter with the Catalina 22 National Sailing Association.
Charlotte Harbor Yacht Club was founded in 1973 with 33 people and $1392 to pick up an option to buy a five acre piece of property overlooking Charlotte Harbor. Located at 26 57.567 N/ 82 04.837 W.
